On Saturday, 103 squadron will be participating in the annual Remembrance Day ceremony, marching to and from the armoury to the cenotaph, and parading with the primary reserve, fire and police members, and other cadet units. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
Senior cadets (FSgt and above) and cadets that require items from supply should arrive at 0830h. Dress is C1/parka, with black gloves. Cadets who haven’t been issued a uniform should wear black trousers and shoes, and a dark jacket. See you on Saturday morning! Sign up online for a chance to participate in power familiarization flying on Sunday, November 26. If your name is selected, you will be assigned one of two flight times, 1200h or 1300h. Each fam flight will take an hour, leaving from and returning to Pitt Meadows Airport.
We only have 12 slots available for this activity so names will be drawn randomly although the majority of the slots will be allocated to junior cadets. This week is CO's parade, dress is C1. Remember to bring your gym clothes for PT.
The Royal Canadian Legion is a very generous supporter of 103 squadron and in return the squadron is happy to assist them with their annual poppy campaign. Volunteers participating in this activity will have it recorded as community volunteering, which is part of completing your level training. Sign up online and indicate which day you would like to volunteer on. You will be assigned a 2 hour shift between 0900 and 1500 hours.
Exercise FALL THUNDER is a field training exercise intended for junior cadets of levels 1 and 2, and will cover the basics on aircrew survival subjects such as; how to collect drinking water, start and maintain a fire, build a shelter, and more.
We will be sleeping in cabins for the duration of the weekend, but please ensure to bring a sleeping bag and rain gear, as well as everything detailed on the kit list. If you have any questions please reach out to FSgt Nestor. The exercise will take place from the afternoon of Friday, 13 Oct with a return to the unit on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 Oct. All cadets levels 1 and 2 that have submitted their annual validation forms and have had any required medical forms validated by the RMLO are eligible to attend, but space is limited. Please register your interest using the online form and review the permissions form and kit list. |
