Community service is a mandatory part of the cadet training program. This Saturday, September 28, cadets will fulfill part of that requirement by participating in a trail maintenance activity on Mount Fromme in Lynn Valley. This will be a fun but strenuous outdoor activity involving digging and moving earth and rocks, so please dress appropriately and bring water and a snack.
UPDATE: print and sign the waiver, and bring it to the event. Details are on the Calendar. Sign up on the squadron bulletin board today! Due to a mechanical issue with the aircraft, the September 22 gliding activity has been cancelled.
Cadets who signed up for the September 20 fam flying activity are reminded to be at the Boundary Bay Airport main terminal building at 1700 this afternoon.
On a glider familiarization day, cadets will go up for a short flight in a cadet Schweizer SGS 2-33A glider to experience the joy of flying. The pilot will demonstrate straight and level flight, basic maneuvers and the traffic circuit.
103 squadron is scheduled to go gliding on Sunday, September 22 (Calendar). Cadets will meet at the squadron headquarters for bus transport to the airport at 0730, and will return at approximately 1445. Note that exact return time is traffic dependent. Cadets are to wear civilian attire appropriate for running, as they will be expected to assist the operation by pushing gliders. Cadets should bring a water bottle, sunscreen and are allowed to bring a camera. If you sign up but are no longer able to attend for any reason, please contact the NCOIC (Sgt Hargreaves) or OIC (OCdt Allen) immediately, so that we are able to fill the spot with another cadet and/or do not hold the bus to wait for you. |
