Don't forget, the squadron boot bash is coming up on May 5 from 1900-2100 in the blue building! Bring your boots, polish and cloth. You can review technique in the How To Cadet video on boot polishing.
Another reminder: training night this week will be fitness assessment for all levels. Bring your PT gear! Pathfinder FTX Summer Pathfinder is a multi-day field training exercise (FTX) taking place near Chilliwack May 19-22. 525 Pathfinder squadron from West Vancouver is running the FTX and has kindly invited 103 squadron cadets to take part. Cadets will be bussed from our LHQ at the JP Fell Armoury to the exercise site on Friday afternoon and will return on Monday afternoon. Over the course of the three days they will learn survival techniques in the Air Cadet training curriculum. Joining instructions and kit lists will be distributed in the coming weeks. Our squadron has a limited number of positions available, so cadet participation will be prioritized based on level, seniority and attendance. All cadets are eligible to attend this exercise. Please sign up online to attend the Pathfinder FTX. Trail Maintenance Day Volunteer service is a key part of the Air Cadet training plan and a requirement for completing each of the cadet training levels. As part of this, 103 squadron will be participating in a community service activity in support of the North Shore Mountain Bike Association on May 13 from 0900 to 1400. We will be conducting trail maintenance on the Lower Expresso Trail on Mount Fromme. This will be a fun but strenuous outdoor activity involving digging and moving earth and rocks, so please dress appropriately and bring water and a snack.
Please sign up online for the trail maintenance activity. Level 1 cadets will once again be doing physical training this week, so please remember to bring your PT gear (including a water bottle)!
This week we will be holding merit review boards for cadets eligible to be promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class. Flight Sergeants should dress in C1, bring a resume, read CATO 13-02 and prepare by reviewing the merit review board handbook.
If we don't have time to interview all eligible cadets this week, we will continue holding boards next week. Cadets will be assigned interview times randomly. |
