Tomorrow, 103 squadron will be participating in the annual Remembrance Day ceremony, marching to and from the armoury to the cenotaph, and parading with the primary reserve, fire and police members, and other cadet units. This is the first time since 2019 we have done so, so here are some tips to keep in mind:
See you tomorrow morning! All cadets are encouraged to attend this week's Remembrance Day ceremony.
Cadets will assemble in front of the squadron LHQ (blue building) at 0830h prior to falling in for the parade to the cenotaph, where the Remembrance Day ceremony will take place. Cadets will march back to the armoury for dismissal at 1200h. Dress is C1 with cadet parka or similar civilian coat. Black gloves are acceptable with uniform. Cadets without uniforms may wear white shirt/black pants and shoes, with a coat appropriate for conditions. Dress for the weather. Senior NCOs, levels 4 and 5, are instructed to attend NCO training on Saturday, 19 Nov and Sunday, 27 Nov, between 0900h and 1500h both days. You will receive instruction on leadership and instructional techniques intended to fill in gaps in training that opened up during the pandemic. Lunch is provided. Please attend both sessions.
There is an opportunity for senior cadets from Lower Mainland Air Cadet Squadrons to attend the Air Transport Association of Canada Conference and Tradeshow from 15-17 November 2022 at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Downtown Vancouver.
This event is "the premier national gathering offering Canada’s best networking, learning, and sales opportunity for operators, suppliers, and government stakeholders involved in commercial aviation and flight training in Canada". It offers cadets an unrivalled opportunity to learn about the wider aviation field, and interact with industry leaders and key stakeholders. The conference schedule and additional information can be found here: https://www.atac.ca/conference-2022 This activity is intended for senior cadets in grade 11 or above, at a minimum of Proficiency Level 4, with a strong interest / background in aviation, preferably a prospective candidate or recent graduate of the Glider / Power Pilot Training Course, looking to learn more about the wider aviation industry and available opportunities. It takes place during school hours so cadets must have parent/guardian permission to attend. For full details contact Capt Ferg.
